and Spoon Productions is an exclusive to-the-trade
purveyor of exceptional children’s wall art. Our products
include canvas wall hangings, framed creative canvas, unframed
lithographs, pint-size prints, and growth charts. Loved by
children and parents alike, our sophisticated and whimsical
wall art is a welcomed addition to a child’s nursery,
bedroom, or family play area!
Each work of art features the exquisite renderings of award-winning
artist Janet White. Janet has a formal background in Art and
Illustration. Her heart-warming paintings have been showcased
in a variety of trade publications, among them Sunset Magazine's
popular decorator books, Ideas for Great Baby Rooms.
“Some artists paint because they are inspired by their
children,” says Janet. “I don’t have any
children. I paint for the child that I was.” Janet grew
up with her older brother on an orange farm outside of rural
Visalia, California. Recalling her childhood, Janet says,
“Neighbors and friends were few and far between. The
fields nearby were my playground and cats, dogs, rabbits,
squirrels, and birds were my playmates, the likeness of which
you see in my artwork today.”
For 15 years, Janet created artwork for children’s rooms,
including paintings, murals, hand-painted furniture, and accessories.
In 2005, she co-founded Dish and Spoon Productions with Joanne
Wiberg, an award-winning business journalist and angel investor
turned stay-at-home mom. The duo met when Joanne called Janet
with a special decorating project, to create a captivating
nursery for Joanne's newborn son. The theme: the nursery rhyme,
Hey Diddle, Diddle. The winsome dish and spoon characters
would later serve as the company’s name and logo.
In addition to spearheading all marketing and licensing efforts,
Joanne oversees the creative direction for Dish and Spoon
Productions. “Ideas for our creative designs come largely
from my experiences as a mother, watching what touches the
hearts and tickles the funny bones of my children,”
says Joanne. “I delight in reading picture books with
my children, listening to their priceless little giggles,
smiling as they splash in puddles on a rainy day or create
a masterpiece with sidewalk chalk. Their love of creativity
and exploration, sheer wonder and delight about the world,
inspire me each day.”
Janet resides in Clayton, California, with her husband Bruce
and tuxedo cat, Blackie. Joanne lives in Pleasanton, California,
with her husband Erik and three boys: Charles, Oliver, and
William. Both Janet and Joanne have a strong commitment to
delivering quality products.
